Temperament Therapy

Temperament, in simple terms, is the inborn (not genetic, i.e. brown hair, blue eyes, etc.) part of mankind that determines how we react to people, places and things. In short, it is how people interact with their environments and the world around them. Temperament pinpoints our perception of ourselves and the people who love us. It is also the determining factor in how well we handle the stresses and pressures of life. Not all of today's problems are caused by sin, but rather a result of a complicated fast paced world, a world that threatens our emotional stability.

David wrote about God's perfect knowledge of man (Temperament) in Psalm 139:13-16. Temperament is a God given KEY into understanding our unique self and why we perceive and react the way we do to the world around us.

Temperament can best be defined as spiritual genetics or God's imprint upon each one of us. Three are involved in the conception of a child, the mother, the father and the Creator.

Temperament is not the same as personality, but is placed inside each of us by God, therefore it does not change throughout our lives. Temperament is discovered through an assessment called the Arno Profile System (A.P.S) which will UNLOCK and bring understanding regarding our inborn traits in our soul which is the mind/will/and emotions. The A.P.S Report provides a detailed analysis of each area of our soul. There are three inborn Temperament areas called the "Inclusion (mind) Area", the "Control (will) Area", and "Affection (emotions) Area". Your “Inclusion Area" is your social orientation and intellectual energy, your “Control Area” is your willingness to make decisions and to accept responsibility for yourself and others and your “Affection Area” is the need you have to express and receive love and approval, as well as your need for deep, personal relationships.

As you understand your temperament strengths and weaknesses, it will help you immensely in every area of your life:

  • How you interact with people

  • How to make better decisions

  • What types of employment are you best suited for

  • How to communicate more effectively

  • Learn how to deal with your anger

  • and so much more!

Temperament therapy is a Biblically based Christian Counseling model with a 93.4% success rate and a 95.7% accuracy rate regarding the Temperament assessment (A.P.S).

Marriage and Family Therapy
Marriage and Family .png

God's definition of marriage is that it is to be a covenant between a man and a woman. (Genesis 5:1-2) He ordained marriage as a way to remove loneliness as He said, "it is not good for man to be alone." (Genesis 2:18) This shows the importance of relationship, especially between a husband and a wife. God is the source, but we are created for relationship. Marriage at its core should be a place of great intimacy and connection, but in today's society we often find this concept difficult to attain. If you find your marriage as a source of resentment, feeling alone and disconnected, my desire and passion is to help you reconnect, to build unity and intimacy again as God desires. (Genesis 2:24)

God created the nuclear family as the bedrock and foundation of society back in the beginning of creation. (Genesis 1:28) I realize that in today's society the family system is going to look different for everyone. I believe my model of therapy can help all families regardless of their background or history. This model demonstrates the family unit as a whole system and viewing each subsystem (Spousal) (Parental) and (Sibling) as a piece of the whole unit.

Therapy Goals:

  • Create a peaceful, non-judgmental environment for marriages/families of all backgrounds

  • Evaluate and decrease the level of stress in the spousal dyad

  • Finding patterns through Genogram and Family of Origin work, Identifying possible triangulation in the system

  • Identify Temperament traits in the systems and subsystems

  • Work on building communication, intimacy and better ways of resolving conflict

  • Establishing a therapeutic plan

  • Feedback and follow-up

You don't have to wait till your marriage is in jeopardy before seeking help. In some cases, it is not always possible for both spouses to commit to counseling. Even so, many people can still benefit from coming to marriage counseling even without their spouse. If that is your situation, do not let their inability or unwillingness to come hold you back.

Premarital Counseling

Premarital Counseling is a form of couple therapy to assist you and your spouse in preparing for marriage. Premarital Counseling helps couples create a blueprint for their lives together that is biblical and God honoring. Premarital Counseling is a key to building a marriage foundation on biblical truths.

Statistics show that 95% of couples who have gone through Premarital Counseling suggest others do the same. Likewise, it has proven to decrease divorce by 30%-50%. Premarital Counseling is a great investment that is statistically supported to improve the quality and longevity of your marriage.

Premarital Counseling helps couples move forward from the euphoria of a newlywed to the reality of a lifetime commitment or covenant. (Mark 10:6-9) Premarital Counseling helps couples transition from eros love (self-gratification) to agape love (selfless-sacrificial) for an enduring relationship. (Ephesians 5:22,25)

Premarital Counseling is a 6-7 session format built on the foundation of Temperament designed to provide knowledge and understanding to unify, enhance and strengthen your marriage and avoid many common but unnecessary pitfalls. You will learn the proper tools necessary before troubles arise which will help you be much more effective.

In our time together we will cover many different topics with four main goals:

  • Understanding personal needs and goals

  • Learning to communicate with your spouse so your needs can be met in a Godly manner

  • Learning a proper format for conflict resolution

  • Gaining a proper understanding of intimacy in the marital boundary

Couples will also have the opportunity to discuss many challenging topics in the presence of an objective third party.

God has placed marriage and family near to my heart for it is a representation of Christ and the Church. (Ephesians 5:32)

Because of the current divorce rate in America, I am thankful for the opportunity to play a part in giving you the tools and resources you need for a strong foundation in the effort to keep you from being another statistic.

(Upon completion of the program, you will receive a certificate which you can present to most city courthouses when applying for your

marriage license and receive a discount.)

Biblical Counseling/
Deliverance  Ministry

Biblical Counseling is a method used to address the issues regarding our thoughts, motivations, attitudes, and actions that flow from the sinful nature of our hearts. This sin nature separates us from the presence of God. (Isaiah 59:2)

The Bible describes the heart as deceitful and desperately wicked. (Jeremiah 17:9)

Biblical Counseling focuses on helping others develop a biblical worldview of their life and recognize the core truth that guides right thinking and actions. This process begins the transformation of having our minds renewed by God's Word, (Romans 12:2), with the ultimate goal being spiritual maturity. (Ephesians 4:14-15)

If you feel oppressed in your thoughts, actions or dreams, disconnected from God or feel something is holding you back from a deeper relationship with Him, finding freedom through Deliverance may be right for you.

As born-again believers we understand the Holy Bible as a spiritual book for spiritual beings. (2 Timothy 3:16)

Our Canon, or the 66 books in our Bible, is the Christian's measuring rod of righteousness. When we begin to open ourselves up and apply God's Word in our life, He in turn enlightens us with His wisdom, knowledge, and understanding. (Psalm 119:129-130)

The Word of God is our compass giving us the direction we need to navigate this life enroute to our eternal destination.

(Psalm 119:105)

You wouldn't go to a mechanic for a heart issue or call an electrician for a water leak. Likewise, going to secular resources for answers and direction could prove devastating for our Christian walk. (Proverbs 19:20-21)

Jesus said in John 10:10 that He came that we may have life and have it to the full. This God kind of life should envelop our spirit, soul and body. (Hebrews 4:12)

God's desire is to touch every area of our life transforming us into the image of Christ.

I am passionate about God's Word and seeing the positive life changing effects the Bible has when we apply it in our lives.

I can testify first-hand the transformation, promises and benefits that applying God's Word has had in my life, marriage and family.

Codependency/Attachment Based Therapy

"In its broadest sense, codependency can be defined as an addiction to people,

behaviors or things. Codependency is the fallacy of trying to control interior feelings by

controlling people, things and events on the outside."

Codependency in its own right is an identifiable, unhealthy compulsion manifesting as survival behaviors which are unhealthy patterns of learned behavior resulting in spiritual sterility, loss of authenticity, and absence of intimacy.

But there is hope. The God of truth has provided a way. Truth is the key. (John 8:32) By facing reality, learning the facts, embracing the possibility of healthy change, facing your pain and truly desiring a restored relationship with our heavenly Father through Jesus Christ, you will begin to see positive changes in your life.

Unlike many other life-threatening disorders which have a long, arduous recovery process, codependency lends itself easily to recovery! Once a person recognizes and accepts their problem and destructive patterns, avenues exist for healing and recovery that actually feel quite good!

Temperament Therapy is applicable in identifying, understanding, and counseling clients dealing with codependency. The A.P.S System is effective in determining the underlying temperament and gives valuable information for helping you unlearn the self-destructive behaviors associated with codependency. Temperament directly determines the direction and intensity of codependency and therefore the strategies most useful for breaking any self-defeating bondage.

Some of the potential topics and strategies for deliverance:

  • Dysfunctional family rules

  • Dysfunctional learned behavior

  • Family of origin and patters of addiction

  • Identifying unhealthy roles

  • Identifying false belief systems

  • Recovery stages

The concept of "SELF-CARE" will be presented as an approach to recovery from codependency based on temperament needs and conclusions offered for each temperament type to help identify and understand the issues affecting you.
